Administrative Branch:

As an officer in the Administration Department, you will be responsible for the efficient management of both human and material resources. Some of the officers of the Administration Branch are selected to carry out the following duties also:

Air Traffic Controller:

Air Traffic Controller officer's core responsibilities will involve maintaining an orderly flow of traffic, airspace management and to provide control and advisory services in order to enable the pilots of military and civil aircrafts to conduct their flights with total safety in all weather conditions.

Fighter Controller:

Fighter Controller will be posted to an Air Defence radar unit and will be responsible for close contact and supervision between the air and radar for effective airspace management. As an important part of front line organization of air defence systems, the Administrative Branch Officer may be required to operate as a Fighter Controller to counter enemy threats from the air by using modem electronic counter-offensive equipment.

To join the Administration Branches, you must fulfill the following criteria:

Age Marital Status Nationality Gender Educational Qualifications
20 to 23 years of age for graduates, 20 to 25 years of age for Post Graduates / LLB (Five year integrated course) and 20 to 26 Years for Law Graduates (3 Years Course after Graduation). Candidates below the age of 25 years must be unmarried(single). Indian This is applicable to both men and women. Graduation degree in any discipline with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put togetherĀ  or
Post Graduation degree / equivalent diploma in any discipline with a minimum 50% marks in aggregate in all papers put together .

Accounts Branch:

The Accounts branch has officers who act as finance controllers and fund managers in various departments of the IAF. An Accounts Officer analyzes the cost and fund requirements, monitors the expenditure and unit funds, plans and forecasts the budgetary requirement of the Air Force. He mainly conducts the financial matters with diversified activities where accounting functions play an important role not only in financial matters, but also in the welfare and inter-personal relationships which have a direct bearing on the morale of the Air Force and its officers.

As an officer in the Accounts Branch, you are responsible for efficient management of funds as well as disbursement of pay and allowances to Air Force personnel. You will also act as internal auditor to ensure a zero-defect audit from outside agencies.

You must fulfill the following criteria to be a part of the Accounts Branch:

20 to 23 years of age for Graduates, 20 to 25 years of age for Post Graduates and 20 to 27 years of age for Chartered Accountants (CA) / Cost Works Accountant (ICWA)
Candidates below the age of 25 years must be Unmarried Indian This is applicable to both men and women Graduate Degree in commerce ( B Com) with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together
OR
Post Graduate Degree in commerce ( M Com) / CA / ICWA with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together

Logistics Branch:

As an officer in the logistics department, one undertakes material and resources management of all Air Force resources around the country. As per requirements the logistics officer supplies clothing to aircraft equipment, you will ensure efficient supervision of inventories and availability of necessary items to all operators and users A Logistics Officer is also responsible for the logistic support in IAF. He is responsible for provisioning of aircraft spares, mechanical transport, fuel, armament and explosives, flying and other clothing items, rations and other items essential for day to day running of the organization and sustaining its manpower. The Logistic Officer, by making use of the latest material management techniques, accomplishes the onerous task of supply management efficiently and in a cost effective manner.

To join the logistics branch, you must achieve the following criteria:

Meteorology Branch:

One can look forward to a fulfilling career as an officer in the Meteorology Branch. Handling the latest satellite imagery and state-of-the-art monitoring equipment, you would render specific advice to the operators on all aspects of weather.

Educational Qualifications

Post Graduate Degree in any Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Geography / Computer Applications / Environmental Science / Applied Physics / Oceanography / Agricultural Meteorology / Ecology & Environment / Geo- physics / Environmental Biology with minimum of 50 % marks in aggregate of all papers put together (Provided Maths and Physics were studied at graduation Level, with a minimum of 55 % marks in both ).
