B.Ed Admission Process in Andhra Pradesh

Education1Entrance Test: For admission into B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) Course in various B.Ed colleges in Andhra Pradesh, there is an entrance test called The Education Common Entrance Test (Ed-CET). This Ed-CET Test is conducted by Convener, Department of Education, Osmania University, Hyderabad on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education.

Eligibility: Candidates appearing Ed-CET Test should have passed B.A./B.Sc./B.Com./B.Sc.(Home Science)/B.C.A./B.B.M. examination from any University in Andhra Pradesh or a recognized University outside Andhra Pradesh. Candidates should have secured 50% marks either in the Bachelors Degree i.e. B.A./B.Sc/B.Com (Home Science)/BCA/BBM and/or in the Masters Degree or any other qualification equivalent thereto.

Eligibility Exemptions:

The candidates who are appearing for final degree examinations of 2011 are also eligible to appear for entrance examination.

The candidates belonging to all other reserved categories should have secured 40% marks in the qualifying examination.

Age Limit: The candidates should have completed the age of 19 years on 1st July of the year in which notification is issued. There shall be no maximum age limit.

How to Apply: Prescribed printed application form along with OMR cum ICR application form and information booklet can be had by paying Rs.150/- across the counters from all the Head Post Offices and the University Post Offices in the State of A.P. The application forms can also be had from e-seva centers in Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Tirupathi, Warangal, Anantapur and Guntur cities. The following Designated main Branches of Andhra Bank outlets in A.P. Duly filled in application form, and OMR cum ICR application form should be submitted in person or by Registered post / Speed post to the Convener, Ed.CET, Department of Education, IASE, Osmania University, Hyderabad - 500 007.

Data of Issue of Application: The tentative dates of issue of application for Ed.CET would be in the third week of March

Exam Date: The tentative dates of Ed.CET Test would be conducted in second week of June

Exam Fee: The exam for Pre-Teacher Education Test is Rs. 150/-

Exam Pattern: The common entrance test will be of objective type (multiple choice) examination. Candidate has to answer 150 questions in 2 hours time.

  • Part B - General Knowledge
  • Part C - Methodology

Medium of Entrance Test: The question paper will be in English and Telugu except for English methodology. However, candidates opting to write the Entrance Test in Urdu medium will be served with Urdu paper and such candidates shall opt either Hyderabad or Kurnool as Test Centre.

Qualification: The qualifying mark in the Entrance Test for all candidates (except SC/ST) is 37 out of total marks (i.e 25%). For the candidates belonging to SC/ST communities there will be no qualifying marks for ranking.

Declaration of Results: The Results of Ed.CET will be declared around in the first week of July. The Result will be available in the website www.osmania.ac.in or www.apsche.org

Ranking: Candidates will be ranked in each methodology in the order of merit on the basis of marks obtained in Ed.CET examination. Where there is a tie in total marks, Part-C marks will be taken into account to decide relative ranking. In case of further tie, the marks obtained in Part-A will be taken into account to decide relative ranking. In case of candidates getting equal marks in each of the parts of the test paper, they shall be bracketed for the purposes of award of rank. At the time of admission into the course, age shall be taken into consideration for relative ranking among the bracketed candidates and the older candidates shall be given priority.

Reservation: Admission to 85% of the seats in each methodology shall be reserved for the local candidates and 15% of the seats shall be left unreserved as specified in the Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions (Regulations and Admissions) Order 1974

Duration of B.Ed Course: The Colleges offers One Year Programme known as B.Ed.

Fee for B.Ed Course: The Tuition fee of Government/University/Aided Private colleges varies from Rs.2700 to Rs.13500 and for private unaided colleges it is Rs.13500 and special fee of Rs.3000/-. The Candidates are exempted from payment of tuition fee and special fee if their parental income from all sources is upto Rs.1,00,000/-
