ICACCI_2013Globalization today pervades almost every facet of human life thanks to the emergence of new digital technologies in computing and communications. At the same time, informatics with its strong focus on providing fast and ready access for human, based on these developments in computing and communications plays more very crucial role in people's lives and permeates all it in all respects, from entertainment to healthcare and from databases to e-governance.

After the success of first International Conference on Advances in Computing, Communications and Informatics (ICACCI-2012) held in Chennai during August 3-5, 2012, we are proud to announce ICACCI-2013. This edition will be organised by Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), Mysore, India during August 22-25, 2013. ICACCI-2013 is technically co-sponsored by IEEE Communications Society.

The scope of ICACCI-2013 is to provide an international forum for exchange of ideas among interested researchers, students, developers, and practitioners in the areas of computing, communications, and informatics. The technical program of the Conference will include tutorials, regular technical sessions, symposiums, workshops, special sessions, demos and plenary/keynote speeches.

Paper Submission

Prospective authors are invited to submit manuscripts reporting original unpublished research and recent developments in the topics related to the conference. It is required that the manuscript follows the standard IEEE camera-ready format (IEEE standard format, double column, 10-point font, 6 pages maximum with 2 additional pages allowed but at an extra charge).

Submissions must include title, abstract, keywords, author and affiliation with email address. All submissions must be in letter-sized PDF. Please double-check the paper size in your page setup to make sure you are using the letter-size paper layout (8.5 inch X 11 inch). The paper should not contain page numbers or any special headers or footers.

Authors should submit their papers online. We use EDAS system for submission of papers and review process. Unregistered authors should first create an account on EDAS to log on. niitlogo2NIIT Ltd, the leading IT education provider, has announced the launch of its Cloud Campus in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Rajendra S. Pawar, Chairman of NIIT Ltd, said cloud education, which allows students access to course, classroom lectures and labs anytime, is simply a new way of learning. He added that given the increasing dependence on new tools such as search-engines, social networking sites and internet as a whole, the need to develop new-age skills is greater than ever before.

By the end of 2013, the company hopes to offer 100 courses across various disciplines such as IT, banking, global finance, management, digital and social media marketing and others at 300 locations within the country.

Pawar added that by offering cloud education, NIIT would also be able to utilise its existing physical infrastructure better.

Vijay Thadani, CEO, NIIT Ltd, said this initiative is centred around the needs of students and will look at providing them convenience, flexibility and the opportunity to acquire diverse skills.

Thadani added that the education system in India was geared at and developed for the industrial sector and not the services sector, despite the latter providing more employment. "So, in the first 25 years we trained people in IT. And, then we started trained people using IT. The new-age skills go beyond IT into spheres such as banking, finance, design and many others." He added that non-IT courses account for almost 20 per cent of NIIT's portfolio now.

He said instead of seeking a bigger piece of the same cake (IT training), NIIT is now looking at increasing the size of the cake itself by incorporating modules in subjects that go beyond IT, such as banking, global finance, management education and digital marketing among others.

All these courses would now be offered through Cloud Campus.

Earlier, the company had offered some courses through cloud computing as part of its pilot project. It has now decided to offer all courses, across centres through cloud.

Indian_Institute_of_Management_TiruchirappalliThe Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli (IIMT) is pleased to announce the successful completion of its very first final placement process for the students of its two-year Post Graduate Programme in Management. Notwithstanding the difficult economic environment, IIMT had a successful final placement process for the 2011-13 batch, the largest First Batch among all IIMs; all 74 students who had registered for final placements have been placed. This had been possible due to the enthusiastic and supportive recruiters who greatly valued the quality of our students and rigor of the programme. The diverse skill sets, varied experience, fresh perspectives and keenness displayed by the students were highly appreciated by the recruiters. The placement process saw a total of 59 recruiters through a rolling process.

The students had a good mix of profiles to choose from, both in terms of the broad domains and specific roles like Corporate Banking, Product Liability Management, International Sales, General Management, Operations Consulting and Supply Chain Planning. Very niche roles like CXO Recruitment Consulting, Executive Assistant to CEO were also offered to the students. Six students opted out of the placement process to pursue specific interests in niche sectors/roles such as dental healthcare management, product management, etc. Prominent recruiters like Cognizant Business Consulting, KPMG, Perfint Healthcare, BPCL, Indian Bank and Berger Paints recruited four or more students each.

The offers spanned different sectors including FMCG, Infrastructure, Healthcare and BFSI. Some major recruiters include Ranbaxy, Dr. Reddy's Lab, Berger Paints, HPCL, BPCL, Perfint Healthcare, Gamesa and TAFE.


ICICI Bank, YES Bank, Indian Bank, Indus Valley Partners, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tata Power, Citrus Payments and IFMR were some of the prominent recruiters who recruited students for roles in Finance. ICICI Bank and YES Bank offered Corporate Banking, Kotak Mahindra Bank offered Wealth Management. Other profiles offered included Corporate Finance, Rural Finance, Risk Management and Project Finance.

Consulting and Analytics:

Cognizant Business Consulting and KPMG recruited majority of students in this function placing them in diverse verticals like Manufacturing, BFSI, Retail and IT Consulting. Flextronics, Vernalis and IQR Consulting offered Business Analytics profiles.


The significant percentage of students with work experience in Information Technology helped attract several companies for this function including Ameex Technologies, Wipro, Common Floor, Meritus Global, Thinksoft and CSS Corp. The roles offered include Program Manager, Business Development, Business Process Consultant and Business Analyst.

Human Resources:

Students interested in HR profiles were hand-picked for interesting roles such as Performance Management, Employee Engagement and Recruitment. Perfint Healthcare, Tata Power and Hunt Partners were the prominent recruiters in this function.


Mahindra and Mahindra and Kellogg recruited students for roles in Supply Chain Management.

jeeThe Joint Entrance Examination for the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) results were declared on Tuesday. The students can check their results here.

Those qualifying the JEE Mains (top 1.5 lakh students in all categories across the country) will get a chance to appear in the JEE Advanced, scheduled to be held on June 2. This year, for the first time, the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) is being conducted in two parts-JEE Main and JEE Advanced.


IIM_RohtakThe Final Placement process of the second PGP batch (2013) of IIM Rohtak was a success. The industry response was good with 80 recruiters making a total of 107 offers to a batch of 111 students who participated in placement. The recruiters appreciated the student for their in-depth knowledge, the enthusiasm, the analytical and communication abilities and the problem solving approach of the students.

The job profiles offered covered Finance, Marketing, Operations, IT, Strategy and Consulting domains. These roles were in the fields of Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, FMCG, IT Consulting, Management Consulting, General Management, Sales and Marketing, Marketing Research, Retail Banking, Financial Modelling, Media Management etc. The institute was able to leverage the advantage of being the only IIM in National Capital Region. Being in its fourth year of operation, IIM Rohtak reinforced its past corporate relations and forged relationships with many new recruiters. Many green ventures participated in the process to establish themselves through the best talent pool of the country.

Marketing: 30% of the batch were placed in the Marketing domain. The recruiters offered profiles spanning across market research, services marketing, rural marketing, B2B marketing, media management etc. Prominent recruiters included Berger Paints, Maruti Suzuki, Mother Dairy, Idea Aditya Birla, amongst others.

Finance: Notwithstanding the downturn in the financial sector, IIM Rohtak attracted quite a few major companies in this domain. The recruiters offered challenging roles in the fields of investment banking, corporate finance, retail banking, trading, financial modelling, financial auditing etc. Prominent recruiters included HSBC, Yes Bank, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, amongst others.

IT: A plethora of prominent recruiters made IIM Rohtak their preferred destination owing to the overall pedagogy and the thorough prior experience in IT which the candidates possessed. The profiles in this domain included IT Consulting, Project Management and Analyst among others. Prominent recruiters included CTS, Indus Valley Partners, Wipro, TCS, Exilant, JDA Software, Mu Sigma amongst others.

Operations: A good number of responses from many recruiters in the operations domain appreciated the passion and rigour of the students and praised for opting a career in this field. The profiles offered in this domain were Quality Control, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Procurement development etc. Prominent recruiters included Actuate Business Consulting, Hero Moto Corp, Majestic Auto (Hero group), Continental Group amongst others.

Strategy/Consulting: Strategy has always been at the forefront of any organisation and the recruiters acknowledged the strategic acumen of the students. Students were offered niche roles in Strategic Leadership and management consulting amongst others. Prominent recruiters included KPMG, Tata AIA, Amrop India, Protiviti Consulting, Evalueserve amongst others.

General Management: General Management has recently emerged as a domain in itself wherein students want to a holistic work profile which gives them an opportunity to stretch their hands wider. Prominent recruiters in this domain included Trident Group, Tata Elxsi, Tata Power amongst others.

cbscA total of 5,835 candidates appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) on Sunday. The first centralized test conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for admissions to MBBS and BDS courses was held at nine centres in the state capital.

D R Singh, coordinator of CBSE in Ranchi, said, "For the first time, the CBSE has conducted the test, which was earlier known as the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT). Of the total 6,160 aspirants, 5,835 students sat for the exams. The exams were conducted peacefully."

The exam was held in one phase at JVM Shyamali, DAV Nandraj, Kairali School, Surendra Nath Cenetray School, DAV Dhurva, Bridgeford School, DAV Kapil Deo, Saraswati Sishu Madnir and DPS and started at 11am.

Aakash Chaudhary, director of Aakash Institute, said, "The paper was easy. The questions were based entirely on NCERT books. Those who thoroughly read NCERT books will be able to crack the exams," he added. The questions consisted of three sections - physics, chemistry and biology. They were fully objective.

The results will be out in June.

Three colleges in the state admit students through NEET. They are the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital, Jamshedpur, and Pataliputra Medical College, Dhanbad offering 27 seats.

A total of 271 medical colleges admit students through NEET. Of these, 138 are government-run colleges and 133 private ones. They offer over 31,000 seats for MBBS courses and another 11,000 seats for PG degrees.

result_ttThe Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board on Monday declared results of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Examination for 2013 at 12:30pm.

The results are available on the board's official website and students can check their results by entering their registered numbers in the box provided.

Students can also obtain their results by sending a message typing karsslc 11 digit reg. no. to 9243355223.

According to reports, the pass percentage of Karnataka SSLC Results 2013 is 77.47 per cent.

Jawaharlal_Institute_of_Postgraduate_Medical_EducationAround 66,000 candidates are striving for admission to first-year MBBS course (2013-2014) at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research.

Selection of students would be through an all-India entrance test scheduled to be held on June 2 in different parts of the country. The institute has a total intake of 141 seats.

An official source in JIPMER told PTI today that the test would be held simultaneously in 14 centres across the country including Chennai, New Delhi, Puducherry, Bangalore and Vijayawada.
