After NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad and National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, it is National Law University, Jodhpur (NLU-J), the third NLU to offer a one-year LL.M. degree by taking admissions through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), for the academic year 2013-2014.

As mentioned in my last week's column, I was recently at the Indian pre-moot of the Willem C. Vis moots as a judge. I had promised in that column that I will share my extensive notes on the common mistakes made by mooters in general.

A few months back, Gyancentral had reported the story of CBI indicting a candidate for IIT Kharagpur Director, on a case of funds irregularity. The three professors from IIT Kharagpur implicated in the Coalnet scam by the CBI and the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) are in a spot of bother once again. Working with a start-up is all fun and a lot of learning. Given the greater responsibility you get a chance to handle there owing to the closely knit working structure, nonetheless law students are apprehensive about working in a not-so-known-place or dread taking dicey-decisions. Many a times, even the start-ups are sceptical about letting a law student sneak in, given that law means nothing but protracted and vapid legal proceedings going on in the court for many.

In a shocking incident, National School of India University (NLSIU) Bangalore sacked a faculty member, Prof. Sidharth Chauhan, because he spoke out against the 9 pm curfew imposed in late 2012 by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Venkata Rao. GyanCentral had covered the story in early January 2013, when enraged NLSIU students opposed against the curfew.

Sometimes humans need more than just a sense of achievement and success to be happy. There is always an underlying urge of doing something good for others, of helping others in their success, of giving back something to the society. The students of IIT Hyderabad are doing just that. The idea first came to him, thanks to hunger pangs. Hailing from Chandigarh, Aruj Garg initially faced a lot of problem with the kind of food that was served in the college mess or the small eateries that had mushroomed outside the college. Also, for each meal, a considerable amount of time was being spent in trying to figure out where to eat.  This is where the idea of starting a food place on campus came about.
