Vatsal_VasudevVatsal Vasudev, a native of Uttar Pradesh, and a second year student at the National Law University (NLU), Jodhpur, is not just another ordinary law student. He has a vision for world unity. The 18-year-old boy participated in a speech writing contest organised by The United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), a global initiative that aligns institutions of higher education with the U.N., in association with Brookings Institution, the public policy think-tank, for university students across the world. His speech was one of the three winning entries and has won him an opportunity to travel to New York and Washington DC, to meet the U.N. Secretary General and the leadership of the Brookings Institution. The two other winners are from Turkey and Kenya.

CLAT_Question_marks

The problems surrounding this year's Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2012 seems to be never ending. After the CLAT committee released the question paper's answer key of CLAT 2012 on Friday, there were at least 12 errors spotted worth 12 marks, according to the examinees.

Shooting_down_the_CLATOne of the petitioners of the first Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), 2012 petition, Shubham Sinha, has filed a Letters Patent Appeal against the order of the Single Judge of the Delhi High Court, dismissing in limine the challenge to the content of the CLAT 2012. The first writ against CLAT 2012 should not have been dismissed by the Delhi high court, said a division bench of the court today. Justices Rajiv Shakdher and Vipin Sanghi sought a response from the 2012 CLAT convenor NLU Jodhpur on the actions taken by the law school on the representations against the examination process made by candidates this year.

clat_messAfter students started complaining about wrong allocation of seats, the first allotment list which had been put up on the CLAT website had to be pulled down by the The Common Law Admissions Test (CLAT) Committee. Now, they have published an updated University allotment list, after most students with much higher marks complained of having been allotted lower ranked colleges.

clat_2012It is a pretty known fact by now that Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2012 has been marred by controversies ever since the students complained of static GK and legal aptitude questions coming out of syllabus. Students were seen protesting, having heated Facebook discussions and planning to file public interest litigation (PIL) against NLU Jodhpur. The Delhi high court finally served a notice by email today to Ratan Lahoti, the registrar of NLU Jodhpur, to respond to a civil writ petition filed in the court yesterday by three CLAT 2012 takers. GyanCentral's Ushnota Paul finds out more.

paper_leakEven as we thought, that the controversies around CLAT 2012 were only with respect to the largely alleged out-of-syllabus nature of the question paper, the story gets murkier by the day. A few students on the Facebook group - CLATHackers have posted about a possible paper leak that happened at one of the major centres of CLAT 2012 - C.M. Model School, Rohini, Sector 24, New Delhi. Gyancentral's Surya Ragunaathan investigates.
